New Orleans Saints get some massive help in latest 2025 NFL mock draft image

The New Orleans Saints are one of the NFL’s most interesting teams right now.

On one hand, the team appeared like a bonafide Super Bowl contender over the first two weeks, suggesting fans wouldn’t have to worry about mock drafts for quite a long time.

On the other hand, it’s always mock draft season.

One of the first major efforts of the early season comes from Sports Illustrated’s Cory Kinnan, who has the Saints picking 22nd overall and selecting Michigan defensive lineman Kenneth Grant:

“The Saints have perhaps the worst interior defensive line on paper. They address that here with the second Michigan defensive tackle in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft. Kenneth Grant is a mammoth of a man, listed at 6-foot-3 and 339 pounds, and has been a stallwart along the interior of the Wolverine's defensive front. Needing an anchor in New Orleans, Grant will be welcomed with open arms.”

The Saints simply haven’t invested major assets into the interior compared to on the edge, where they still boast Cam Jordan, Carl Granderson, Payton Turner and Chase Young, to name a few.

That’s a weakness that will continue to show up, especially against certain opponents. Given the cap constraints after the team’s attempt to outright skip the rebuilding phase, this is one of the only logical places the Saints can seek out a blue-chip player for the area.

Grant would appear to be that, too, and his performing well alongside the edge rushers would give the Saints some breathing room to deal with other areas while he’s on a rookie contract.
