Former COTY thinks Magic should have more national TV games; throws shade at Warriors and Lakers image

Former Coach of the Year for the Denver Nuggets George Karl said on X that the Orlando Magic needed more nationally televised games. He also basically insulted the Golden State Warriors and LA Lakers, saying they would have more nationally televised games than wins.

These are both true statements, as the Magic are heavily underrated, and the Warriors and Lakers are overrated. The Magic were a surprise team last year, being the fifth seed in the playoffs. However, they did not even have one national TV game, even with the reigning Rookie of the Year in Paolo Banchero.

The Warriors and Lakers were both play-in teams last year, with the Warriors being eliminated there and the Lakers getting swept in the first round. They only have the amount of games they have due to the aging yet legendary stars on their teams. They also are iconic franchises, but they aren’t that good now.

Orlando only has nine games on national TV, while the Warriors and Lakers have 36 and 39. Both teams didn’t make big moves in the offseason, and the Warriors lost one of the biggest parts of their old dynasty in Klay Thompson.

The Magic will have a great year this next year, and hopefully get the recognition they deserve.
