The Boston Celtics have had three players selected to be on the potential 2028 Olympic roster by NBA.com, per NBACentral. It includes Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Derrick White. If they accept is another question entirely.
For Jayson Tatum, this would be his third Olympics. However, after how he was treated this last Olympics in Paris, he may be doubtful for the next one. In 2020, he was the second option, behind a prime Kevin Durant. Now, after he won the NBA Finals, leading his team in all stats, he is made a bench player and barely played at all. The disrespect he felt may influence him to not join next year.
For Jaylen Brown, he was disrespected even more by Team USA than Tatum. Brown was the Finals MVP, and he didn’t make the initial roster, and when Kawhi Leonard left due to injury, his teammate was picked over him. His teammate, who is the fourth/fifth option on the Celtics.
The teammate being spoken of and final potential member is Derrick White. White saw the second-most playing time of the Celtics on the roster this year, so he definitely would like to run it back. An excellent shooter and defender, he would be a perfect addition to the team.
There may be a chance that all three do accept, but there is room for doubt after how the Jays were treated by Team USA.
