Fans of the Boston Red Sox are eyeing up Max Fried as the potential free agent ace to pull the starting rotation together. This comes after it was reported the Sox were all-in on Fried this offseason, even willing to outbid the heaviest of hitters.

This past season, Fried started in 29 games, and finished with a record of 11-10. He posted an ERA of 3.25, and struck out 166 hitters.

Fried is also a lefty, which the Sox rotation and pitching staff in general lacks. He would basically become the replacement for Chris Sale, who the team ironically traded to Fried’s current team, the Atlanta Braves.

If the Sox signed Fried, their rotation would most likely look like this:

  1. Max Fried
  2. Tanner Houck
  3. Brayan Bello
  4. Lucas Giolito
  5. Kutter Crawford

If the Sox pick up Giolito and Refysnyder’s options, they would still have $60 million to play with, which is more than enough to make a good offer.

Hopefully, the Sox pull the trigger, get Fried as the new ace of the team, and add some more arms in the bullpen as well.
