WWE Speed Results (09/04/24): Iyo Sky, Lyra Valkyria do battle in first-ever women’s tournament image

No one can say Lyra Valkyria and Iyo Sky aren’t working, that’s for sure. Granted, the former has been noticeably absent over the past several weeks from WWE programming but she made her return on the Labor Day edition of RAW and then, 24 hours later, was shockingly reuniting on NXT with Tatum Paxley and then, 24 hours later, took on Iyo Sky in the first-ever women’s tournament on WWE Speed.

Sky is herself fresh off of a recent match, she and Kairi Sane (who suffered a bloodied face due to a botch that she provided an update on hours later) took on Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre on RAW.

And so it went that the two superstars squared off for a chance to be the inaugural WWE Women’s Speed Champion, and they had only three minutes to prove themselves.

It was a high-flying match as many would expect, and exceptionally entertaining to boot, but the veteran savvy of former WWE Women's Champion Iyo Sky eventually overtook the promising rookie, showing her there’s still much for her to learn as she ascends the WWE women’s roster.

Sky advances to the semifinals to take on the winner between Naomi and Blair Davenport and, if the chips fall a specific way, there’s a chance she’d be pitted against Kairi Sane, her tag team partner, in the championship final — assuming they both make it that far.

That would be must-see TV.
