A pleasant surprise arrived on the Labor Day episode of WWE RAW on Monday Night when Lyra Valkyria reemerged on TV after being absent for a noticeable amount of time. The hiatus was shocking when you consider Valkyria is one of the rookie wrestlers on the Red Brand who was shot out of a cannon to stardom after her rampant success at NXT led to her being drafted by RAW.

And speaking of NXT, the next surprise from Valkyria came only 24 hours after her reappearance on RAW, showing up on the Black and Gold brand to save none other than Tatum Paxley — from a beatdown at the hands of Rosemary and Wendy Choo.

This is a stunning development for a couple of reasons.

The first is tied to a curiosity surrounding the WWE’s plan for Valkyria, who went from quickly earning a way to the women’s Money in the Bank match to, not long thereafter, disappearing from broadcasts and becoming an afterthought following a forgettable program against the trio now unfortunately known as the Pure Fusion Collective.

Though her appearance on RAW was to help Zelina Vega against that very faction.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear wings.

The second is much more clear in that, lest ye forget, it was Paxley who turned on her then friend Valkyria back in April, throwing her into the steel stairs ringside in random a fit of rage.

Is Valkyria setting Paxley up for some revenge down the line? It is certainly possible but, at least for now, the two were hugging it up in the ring after Lyra came to Tatum’s rescue.

But beware the payback, because valkyries don’t forget those who cross them.
