The Tennessee Titans have gotten off to an 0-3 start to begin the 2024 season after losing to the Green Bay Packers in Week 3, 30-14. There was some good news for fantasy football managers who have a piece of either wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins or running back Tyjae Spears.
Hopkins had a season-best game in Week 3, reeling in six catches for 73 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort. He also saw a team-high seven targets and looks on track to rekindle the connection we saw with quarterback Will Levis in 2023.
Running back Tyjae Spears also had his most productive game of the season, but most of his damage came through the air, which was aided by game script. Spears finished with two carries for seven yards but added four receptions for 54 yards.
Going into a Week 4 matchup against the Miami Dolphins, should either Hopkins or Spears be in your lineup? Let's discuss.
Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 4: DeAndre Hopkins
Hopkins is coming off his best game of the 2024 season in Week 3 and is beginning to look healthier. The concern, though, is that Hopkins hasn't played more than 29 snaps in a game this season, and saw just 25 last week.
On paper, this is a tough matchup against a Dolphins defense surrendering the 10th-fewest fantasy points per game to receivers. However, the Dolphins had games against lackluster receiving corps. in the Jacksonville Jaguars' and the Buffalo Bills' over the first two games, and the Bills blew the Dolphins out, rendering the passing attack unnecessary.
Against a more talented group last week, the Dolphins gave up over 100 yards and a score to Seattle Seahawks stud receiver DK Metcalf. Hopkins can be deployed as a flex, but he's a borderline boom-or-bust option until his snap totals rise.
Verdict: Start 'Em
Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 4: Tyjae Spears
Coming off a game in which he made the most of just six touches, Spears hasn't had more than eight in a single game this season.
Granted, the Titans had to abandon the run game after falling behind to the Packers early, but Spears was still playing second fiddle to Tony Pollard, who had nine touches.
Nothing has changed with Spears' status. He remains just a handcuff to Pollard going into Week 4.
Verdict: Sit 'Em
