The Detroit Lions looked like their offense was finally going to break out in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals, but a quiet second half proved that would not be the case. While running back David Montgomery had his best game of the 2024 campaign, wide receiver Jameson Williams had his worst.
Montgomery toted the rock a whopping 23 times for 105 yards, and he found pay dirt for his third-straight game. The veteran back also saw three targets that he turned into three receptions for 17 yards.
Meanwhile, it was a much different story for Williams, who failed to break one fantasy point after having two strong games to begin the season. Williams had a reception for nine yards and was stuffed for -7 yards on his lone carry.
You probably already know the answer on Montgomery, but should Williams be in your lineup when the Lions face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4? Let's discuss.
Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 4: Jameson Williams
On the surface, this is a scary matchup against a Seahawks team that is giving up the fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers, but context is needed.
Seattle has drawn three favorable matchups against lackluster passing attacks over the first three games, facing rookie Bo Nix, journeyman Jacoby Brissett and backup Skylar Thompson, so that should certainly be factored into things.
Jared Goff and the Lions are the biggest challenge Seattle has faced yet, and I think Williams bounces back after what was his worst showing of the 2024 campaign.
Verdict: Start 'Em
Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 4: David Montgomery
The Lions are one of the rare occurrences in fantasy football where you can deploy both of their running backs with confidence on a weekly basis.
While all the attention was on Jahmyr Gibbs entering the season, Montgomery has been more productive, ranking as RB9 overall compared to Gibbs being RB13, per Fantasy Pros. Both Lions backs are every-week starters, regardless of matchup.
Verdict: Start 'Em
