The Seattle Seahawks don't seem to be having much luck of their own when it comes to injuries. However, they do keep getting breaks when it comes to their opponents' getting snake-bitten. Two weeks ago Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was placed on IR, sidelining him for Seattle's matchup.
Next, while it didn't do them any good they got to face the Detroit Lions without Frank Ragnow. We also recently learned that Von Miller will be suspended for the Buffalo Bills game in a few weeks.
For an encore, it looks like the New York Giants won't have rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers available when they visit on Sunday.
This comes according to the latest reporting from Giants practice by Jordan Ranaan at ESPN. He says Nabers is still dealing with the concussion that he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys and considers him a longshot to be ready for this week's game against Seattle. Nabers was a DNP at today's practice on their injury report.
A break for injury-depleted Seahawks defense
This is a welcome bit of news for a Seahawks defense that's been bitten hard by the injury bug over the last couple of weeks. Standout free safety Julian Love is the latest starter to be knocked out early in the season, bringing the total to six.
That includes Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy II, Boye Mafe, Byron Muprhy and Jerome Baker. Some of them might return for this week's game but the front-seven is definitely not going to be 100%.
The Seahawks were probably always going to stomp the Giants, as they have in six of the last seven meetings going back to 2011, but Nabers was the Giants' best shot at an upset if he could go off against Seattle's backups.
Nabers currently ranks second in the NFL in receiving yards at 386, just 20 more than third-place DK Metcalf but 103 fewer than league-leader Nico Collins.
