The Seattle Seahawks are back at home this week to host the New York Giants. While they may not be 100% close to healthy - especially on defense - they're favored by about a touchdown and should still be good enough to take down the Giants at home. That's what most experts are saying heading into this week, anyway.
Here's a review of their predictions for Sunday's game.
NFL expert predictions for Seahawks-Giants
Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News: Seahawks 27, Giants 17
"The Giants are on the brink of benching Daniel Jones, and there's a chance it happens here in a hostile environment with former Seahawk Drew Lock being the No. 2. But their limited, compressed offense is in trouble regardless, as the Seahawks will step on the gas and be able to jump out to a fast start with big plays passing and running. Seattle will contain the run and be able to pressure Jones and/or Lock into mistakes."
Bill Bender, Sporting News: Seahawks 28, Giants 20
"The pressure is on Daniel Jones for a Giants' team that generated 18 points per game the past three weeks in a series of one-score games. Seattle is coming off a short week, but Geno Smith has managed to stay on schedule at quarterback with first-year coach Mike Macdonald. The Giants are 2-8 S/U and 4-6 ATS in their past 10 games as a road underdog under Brian Daboll."
Ben Rolfe, Pro Football Network: Seahawks 23, Giants 20
"It feels like we very much know who the New York Giants are after four weeks. They are a below-average team (23rd in net EPA, 22nd offensively, 19th defensively) that can win against other bad teams but don’t have the talent or knowledge to win against average or better teams."
Lorenzo Reyes, USA Today: Seahawks 27, Giants 18
"Aside from their season opener, the Giants have been fairly competitive in their games. Seattle, though, has a revamped defense that does a pretty good job of turning teams away on third downs — despite Week 4’s loss against the Lions. I just don’t trust New York’s offense to keep pace here."
Bert Bainbridge, Northjersey.com: Seahawks 24, Giants 10
"The Giants offense leaves a lot left to be desired following a performance where they kicked five field goals after repeatedly failing to get in the end zone. On the flip side, the Seahawks defense was clearly shorthanded on Monday night, leading to the historic night from Goff. I expect Seattle to get a few of these key contributors back here, beating the G-Men for a third consecutive season and the seventh time in the last eight meetings."
Ian MacMillan, Sports Illustrated: Seahawks -5.5
"The Giants enter this week ranking 25th in Net Yards per Play (-0.6) as well as near the bottom of the league in advanced metrics on both sides of the ball. Going on the road in Seattle to take on a team with a great defense as well as an explosive offense is a recipe for disaster for the G-Men."
Our Seahawks-Giants pick
It's tough to feel too confident about picking the Seahawks in any way given what we witnessed on Monday night. However, we need to keep in mind that Detroit is a serious Super Bowl contender and the Giants have gone 7-14 over their last 21 games and are 22-39-1 all time with Daniel Jones starting.
That includes a humiliating 24-3 loss by last season against this team, which has gotten much better defensively since. Seattle's injuries up front may be problematic, but the Giants offensive line is nowhere near the Lions' and Mike Macdonald should be able to rattle Jones' cage enough to pull off an ugly, defense-heavy win if nothing else. Seahawks 27, Giants 13.
