New York Jets have chance to help Aaron Rodgers cook like it's 2021

Allen Lazard is here. Nathaniel Hackett is here. Most importantly, Aaron Rodgers is here.

The only seemingly appropriate next step for the New York Jets is to add All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to the offense.

It appears that the partnership between Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders has soured, possibly to a point beyond repair. Amidst reports claiming that the wide receiver has requested a trade, and that the Jets have expressed their interest, there's reason to believe that Adams is likely to reunite with his favorite quarterback at some point over the next few weeks.

Appearing on the Up & Adams Show, Adams, the pass-catcher, hinted that his relationship with Raiders' head coach Antonio Pierce is currently tenuous at best.

"It's one of those situations where I just keep my head down and keep doing my thing. Let the chips fall where they may as it pertains to that," said Adams, who is currently on the shelf with a hamstring injury.

As for playing with Rodgers, Adams seemingly wouldn't mind doing it again.

"How could you not [miss being Rodgers's teammate]?" said Adams.

In 2021, which was the last year the band was fully together with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers won the NFL MVP award by throwing for 4,115 yards and 37 touchdowns to four interceptions.

Earning an All-Pro First Team honor, Adams caught 123 of 169 receiving targets for a career-high 1,553 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 15 games that season, Lazard made 40 receptions for 513 yards and eight touchdowns.

"I love Davante. He's one of my favorite teammates, one of my biggest mentors. I'm so grateful to be able to share the field with him. The time that we spent in Green Bay, together, doing the things that we did was something I'll never forget," said Lazard on Wednesday in Florham Park.

The Packers finished with a 13-3 regular season record in 2021.

Although the Jets may have to fend off a few other teams in the Adams trade sweepstakes, they have the capital to get it done. It would be another all-in move for an all-in season, and it would be totally worth it if the band can rekindle that 2021 magic.
