Taysom Hill isn’t the only major New Orleans Saints player battling an injury as the team exits Week 4 at 2-2.

Star defensive back Tyrann Mathieu also suffered an injury during the loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

According to ESPN’s Katherine Terrell, he told reporters after the game that there is a lingering heel injury and the new groin injury suffered during the lsos—on top of the calf injury from earlier this season.

Despite the injury woes, Mathieu has appeared in all four games for the Saints, playing 77 percent of the snaps. That’s obviously a down number for him, but he’s fighting through the issues to help fuel what has been a surprisingly good defense.

Against the Falcons, Mathieu’s unit actually didn’t permit a touchdown to Kirk Cousins and Co. (losing 26-24 anyway is an entirely different topic of discussion).

Should Mathieu need to miss time to get right, the Saints will need to lean on names like Jordan Howden alongside the likes of Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo. He and other Saints get an extra day of rest before next week’s Monday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
