The latest Taysom Hill injury for the New Orleans Saints once again looms heavy over the team’s outlook.
Case in point, the Week 4 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, where Hill scored two rushing touchdowns, then exited with an injury—the Saints lost, 26-24.
If there is a silver lining about the latest injury to Hill, it’s that it doesn’t sound like it is a re-aggravation of the recent one that required a hospital visit.
Saints head coach Dennis Allen told reporters after the game that the injury isn’t the bruised lung, but “ribs on the other side.”
That’s good news, though this means another week of closely watching the injury reports because the Saints are so reliant on Hill to make up production issues at running back behind Alvin Kamara and at the tight end overall.
Derek Carr’s offense needs the help and versatility, too. Wideout Chris Olave even suited up on Sunday despite being iffy to play, then led the team with eight catches for 87 yards.
If there’s yet another small silver lining, it’s the fact Hill will get an extra day to recover from this latest injury, as the Saints don’t play until Monday night in Week 5. Problem is, that’s a huge showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs, where the Saints risk stumbling their way into a losing record after that hot start.
