This offseason, the New England Patriots added a number of free agents, who they expected to have a sizeable role for the 2024 season, including linebacker Oshane Ximines.

New England signed the 27-year-old to a one-year deal this offseason after he spent the first five seasons of his career with the New York Giants.

Throughout training camp and preseason, Ximines proved he could play on special teams and provide depth as a pass-rusher behind Keion White, Deatrich Wise Jr., Joshua Uche and Anfernee Jennings.

However, the former third-round pick suffered an injury during punt coverage in the Patriots' Week 2 overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks and was placed on injured reserve not long after.

While the severity of the injury was originally unknown, ESPN's Mike Reiss reported on Sunday morning that Ximines suffered a torn ACL and will be forced to miss the remainder of the season.

He played 43 total snaps for New England recording just one tackle in the two games.

Depending on how his recovery goes and what else happens in the next few months, the Patriots may be interested in re-signing Ximines in the offseason on an inexpensive deal, but if they decide against it, his tenure with New England will be a short one.
