The Denver Broncos have looked terrific in two preseason games. The talk of the town has been Bo Nix, leading many Broncos fans to believe the team is finally on the right track.
With one preseason game remaining, the team still has some tough decisions to make. Those decisions have been made all the more difficult by the players on this list.
These players are threatening to steal a roster spot, as most analysts would not have predicted them being part of the team this year.
Broncos players ready to steal a roster spot
Keidron Smith, Safety
No one predicted Keidron Smith to be in the running for a spot as one of the team's safeties, but he has had an interception in each of the team's preseason games. That doesn't make him a lock by any means, but at a position where the team needs more playmakers, Smith is making plays.
Zach Wilson, QB
As we watched the reps in training camp and the way Sean Payton rotated his quarterbacks in the preseason, it looked like Jarrett Stidham was just going to keep the seat warm for Nix. But after two preseason games, Zach Wilson has turned it into a toss-up at for the No. 2 quarterback job.
Regardless if Wilson wins it or not, he has revived his career, even if just by a little bit.
Tyler Badie or Blake Watson, RB
The Broncos have some incredibly tough decisions to make at the running back position. But in all likelihood, Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime are on the team.
However, Tyler Badie and Blake Watson have both been great in the preseason. The team would probably like to keep them both, there just aren't enough spots.
Badie has scored a touchdown in each preseason game and looked terrific nearly every time he's touched the ball. Watson looks like a talented undrafted player. Samaje Perine has likely reached the end of his run in Denver.
Devaughn Vele, WR
Though Tim Patrick has probably played himself off of the roster bubble, seventh-round pick Devaughn Vele has had one of the best camps of any player on the team. He looked like a practice squad candidate at best when the team selected him back in April but now looks like close to a sure thing for the final roster.
