The Denver Broncos are preparing to be without running back Tyler Badie following a scary injury in Week 4 against the New York Jets. On Tuesday, the team added another back to the rotation.
After working out both Salvon Ahmed and Elijah Dotson, the Broncos signed Ahmed to their practice squad.

With the status of Badie currently unknown, the Broncos are getting ahead of things by finding replacements. For now, Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin will shoulder the load. Audric Estime is still on injured reserve and Blake Watson has been a healthy scratch each week.
If Badie misses a good deal of time, Ahmed is a good candidate to be called up from the practice squad due to his veteran experience.
Salvon Ahmed joins Denver Broncos practice squad
Ahmed has four years of NFL experience under his belt. He joined the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Washington in 2020. After being waived at the end of the preseason, he was scooped up by the Miami Dolphins and he spent four seasons with them.
Ahmed was waived by Miami this summer but rushed for 593 yards and five touchdowns during his time there. He also caught 40 passes for 274 yards and another score.
The Broncos also worked out former Northern Colorado running back Elijah Dotson on Tuesday. Dotson spent the 2023 season with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent. He was not offered a contract at this time, but could still be on the team's radar.
