NFL Power Rankings: Denver Broncos slowly inching their way up the board image

Not long ago, the Denver Broncos looked like one of the worst teams in the NFL. But things can change quickly in this league and the Broncos, winners of two straight on the road, are back to 2-2 and no longer sitting at the bottom of the power rankings.

In the most recent edition of Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News' weekly power rankings, the Broncos have ascended three spots from last week, settling in at the No. 20 spot. That is right about where they should be.

It's hard to say how good the Broncos are following a 1-point win over the Jets in horrendous weather conditions on Sunday, but wins are wins and the team seems to be onto something going forward.

Here is what Iyer had to say:

"The Broncos have gone from compressed, uninspiring offense with Bo Nix to getting more than enough with their defense overachieving for Sean Payton. They can make some division noise over the next two games before seeing Payton's old team, the Saints."

The next two weeks set up well for the Broncos as they will host the Las Vegas Raiders before taking on the hobbled Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6. With two wins, the Broncos could creep toward the top 10, which was unthinkable after watching how badly they played against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.
