Red Sox ownership tries to cut costs once again; targets front office employees image

It has been confirmed the Boston Red Sox ownership has asked its scouts and some members of the front office to take a pay cut to stay with the team, per Alex Speier. This information was reported by former assistant general manager Zack Scott.

The Sox have been plagued by penny pinching for the past four years, where they have finished last in the division three times out of four, with the exception of 2021 where they made the ALCS.

The Sox’s problem is their ownership owns multiple teams, who all share the same problem; they never spend enough money to win championships. Since the ownership has to spread their money over multiple teams, they can’t afford to focus on one team as all the other teams will suffer. This leads to all of the teams just being mediocre; not bad, but not great.

This should not be the case for the Red Sox. They are one of the top three baseball clubs in terms of notoriety in the world, and they are third in worth. Yet, the ownership still runs the team as a small market team. Hopefully, ownership wakes up and realizes this team has potential, and goes out and spends some money to contend in 2025.
