Fans of the Boston Red Sox are talking on X about acquiring LA Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez as their big righty bat pickup of the offseason. Hernandez has said he loves the city, fans, and to play at the park of Boston’s MLB team.
Hernandez has been an amazing bat for the Dodgers, hitting .272/.339/.501/.840, with 32 doubles, 33 home runs and 99 RBI.
The Sox missed out on him last season, due to not offering him the money LA did. However, with Hernandez up for grabs once again they might not let him get away this time.
The only problem with this possible acquisition is his field position. He’s an outfielder, and the Sox have a ton of those. If he was to play the field, the Sox would have to trade Jarren Duran or Wilyer Abreu, or let Tyler O’Neill walk.
Another solution would be to trade Masataka Yoshida, the current DH, and put Hernandez there. He has the tenth most errors among active players, so it might not be a bad idea to put him only on offense.
The Sox should go all out to acquire him, even though they have a surplus of outfielders. It’s better to have too many and make trades then have nothing and risk another .500 season.
