One thing is for certain, and that’s how insanely popular the WWE brands are around the globe. It’s that popularity that has stoked the fires for a slew of international events, more and more with each passing calendar year, and the pop from each crowd is deafening — leading to a demand from Santos Escobar to WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

The leader of Legado Del Fantasma and native of Mexico was having the time of his life battling Rhodes for the title this past weekend at The SuperShow Summer Tour in front of a raucous Mexican crowd.

Though he’d lose the match, he feels the entire country (and promotion) won, and deserves a WWE premium live event.

Escobar is definitely onto something here.

With the longtime success of Lucha Libre and the WWE’s ability to help mold several from that background into not only superstars, but also Hall of Famers, it stands to reason they’d begin taking the production as a whole to Mexico more than they usually have; and in looking at legendary showings by crowds in France, Australia, Saudi Arabia, etc., one can only imagine how unforgettable a PLE would be if it traveled south of the border.

Though you don’t have to exactly strain your brain to imagine it, only needing to look at any one of the many videos pouring out of the SSST event to get an idea of how things would go.

And then there’s the reality of just how much of a showing the rival company, AEW, does in Mexico and with CMLL (Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre) — added motivation for WWE to give Escobar and fans in Mexico what they’re craving:

A premium event.
