The Washington Commanders have been one of the more surprising stories in the NFL this season. When you draft a quarterback with the second pick in the NFL Draft, you expect him to be good, but not many expected rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels to be this good, this early, with this team. Yet, Daniels has been lighting up the NFL the past two weeks, and the Commanders are sitting at 3-1 and atop the NFC East standings.

That surprise start to the season could have the Commanders and their front office looking for ways to improve the team around Daniels immediately and could have them as “buyers” at the NFL trade deadline. One of the areas on the team that could be improved is their wide receiver corps, and one of the names with the biggest buzz right now about potentially being on the market is Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams.

It might seem like an odd pairing at first, but Bleacher Report’s NFL Insider James Palmer believes the Commanders could be a “sneaky” fit for the Raiders wide receiver at the trade deadline, if not before. Adams currently does not have any more guaranteed money on his contract with the Raiders according to Palmer, and Palmer believes that the team has no interest in giving Adams another long-term contract, so the desire to move on from Adams now and get a return on him could be there.

Those rumors were made stronger by a recently liked Instagram post by Raiders’ head coach Antonio Pierce ruminating on the team potentially trading the star wide receiver. Palmer reports that Adams has not talked with Pierce about the incident, and that “things have gone quiet” around the Raiders headquarters which “usually indicates” activity.

Palmer goes on to say that the Commanders could make the money work, as they’re not paying the wide receiver room much right now – and took a little tangent to praise current Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin and call him “grossly underpaid – and says that if the Commanders keep playing like they are, and are still atop the NFC East in a couple of weeks, they’re a team to watch out for on the Adams’ front.
