A four-game sample size is admittedly small by NFL standards—but it’s impossible to ignore the historic start for Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
One NFL Hall of Famer says it isn’t a fluke, either.
Appearing on ESPN this week, Randy Moss said that this is a sustainable thing from Daniels.
"You talk about all the rookies in the National Football League,” Moss said. “ Is there anyone playing better football than this young man right here?"
Moss cites how Daniels is “reaching the deep part of the passing game” as one of the biggest reasons for this stance. The rookie’s ability, paired with praise for offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury’s style of offense, gets a nod, too.
Whatever the reason, Moss would appear to be correct, considering how “down” the passing game has looked across the league to start this season.
Except in Washington, where a rookie keeps shattering records and has his team at 3-1 with an early lead in the NFC East.
While it is reasonable to expect something of a regression once opposing teams dig into the film on Daniels, as Moss hints, the combo of Daniels and the Kingsbury offense is already one step ahead and could remain that way, too.
