The Pittsburgh Steelers are off to a 3-0 start to the season with Justin Fields under center as Russell Wilson continues to recover from his calf injury. And it looks like Fields will start once again in Week 4, as Wilson is questionable after another week of limited practices.
Fields certainly hasn't lit the world on fire in his first three starts with the Steelers, as he's completed 73.3% of his passes for 518 yards and two touchdowns to one pick while also adding 90 rushing yards and another touchdown.
But that has been enough thanks to a Steelers defense that has been elite. It's also worth noting that kicker Chris Boswell has played a significant role in Pittsburgh's impressive start.
After watching Fields for three games, former NFL running back and FOX Sports 1 analyst LeSean McCoy isn't impressed.
"We keep talking about Justin Fields as if he's like carrying his team, a game-changer," McCoy said on The Facility. "We talk about him more than we talk about Josh Allen carrying a team and then we really break down the team and really watch the tape and look at the stats. Any quarterback in America can do that. Daniel Jones, as bad as I think he is, I think he will be a winning quarterback in his system and then we can keep going, right?"
It's true, Fields hasn't been the main reason for the Steelers' 3-0 start, but he has done a good job taking care of the football and playing a complementary role to Pittsburgh's defense.
That will almost always be enough to beat some of the lesser teams in the NFL, but the Steelers will need more if they truly want to make noise this season.
It remains to be seen if the Steelers will stick with Fields once Wilson is healthy, but if Fields does keep the job and fails to answer the bell when more is needed from him, Wilson is going to get his chance under center.
