Eagles 2024 practice squad: Familiar faces are returning to Philly image

The Philadelphia Eagles completed their roster cut-down to 53 players on Tuesday. The morning after, the team got some good news with all of their waived players going unclaimed.

Some familiar faces are returning to the team via the 16-player practice squad, including linebacker Oren Burks, center Dylan McMahon and tight end E.J. Jenkins.

McMahon was among the Eagles’ surprise moves on Tuesday night. The No. 190 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, McMahon seemed to do enough to stick around as a reserve lineman — especially on a roster with no established backup for center Cam Jurgens.

Ditto for Jenkins, who was one of the Eagles training camp standouts. His performance in the preseason game against the Patriots earned him the No. 3 tight end spot. Fortunately, Jenkins cleared waivers and could find his way onto the active roster sooner rather than later. The Eagles are currently rolling with two active tight ends: Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra.

Burks was an interesting offseason addition for the Eagles after playing on some good defenses with the San Francisco 49ers. He was slowed by a knee injury on the first day of practice this summer and couldn’t catch up in what was a crowded linebacker room. Still, Burks is a solid depth stash on the practice squad who flashed what he could do in the preseason finale against the Vikings:

Per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles have filled 13 of their 16 practice squad spots. Here’s the full list so far:

  • LB Oren Burks
  • WR Parris Campbell
  • RB Tyron Davis-Price
  • OL Nick Gates
  • QB Will Grier
  • DT Gabe Hall
  • TE E.J. Jenkins
  • G/C Dylan McMahon
  • WR Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
  • S Andre’ Sam
  • LB Brandon Smith
  • S Caden Sterns
  • TE Jack Stoll
  • OL Laekin Vakalahi (exempt)
