The New York Jets named two defensive gameday elevations for their September 29 home matinee against the Denver Broncos.
On Saturday, the Jets announced that Practice Squad players linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball and defensive tackle Bruce Hector are being called up for the Week 4 AFC tilt.
The linebacker elevation could indicate that veteran CJ Mosley, who is listed as doubtful, won't be available to take the field against Denver. McCrary-Ball was also activated for the Thursday Night Football win over the New England Patriots with Mosley missing the game due to a toe injury sustained in Week 2.
Currently in his second season as a member of the Jets' Practice Squad, McCrary-Ball was active for two games in 2023. He appeared exclusively on special teams in Weeks 11 and 17. Undrafted out of Indiana in 2022, the linebacker spent his rookie season as a P-Squad player for the San Francisco 49ers.
Hector, who will turn 30 years old on October 7, is a pro football journeyman who has seen regular season snaps with three different NFL teams as well as a spring league player. The defensive lineman initially signed with the Jets after the 2023 Hall of Fame Game. He missed the final cut, but returned to New York following a short stint with the Houston Texans' P-Squad.
Elevated from the Jets' Practice Squad, Hector totaled 37 defensive snaps over the final two games last season.
The Jets and the Broncos will kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday on CBS.
