The New York Giants activated linebacker Matthew Adams from the Reserve/Injured list, the team announced Saturday.

Ahead of the Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks, the Giants added some depth to the middle of the defense while bringing back a key piece of the special teams unit.

Adams, who signed with the team this offseason in free agency, suffered a groin injury during training camp and was placed on the reserve list after roster cuts.

He spent four seasons with the Colts before joining the Chicago Bears in 2022. Adams spent the 2023 season with the Cleveland Browns.

In 85 games (13 starts), Adams has recorded 98 tackles (68 solo) and eight tackles for loss. He's averaged 290.3 special teams snaps per season.

To make room for Adams on the active roster, the Giants waived outside linebacker Benton Whitley.
