The New England Patriots defense has been missing at least one player at each level of their unit which has really impacted the way they've played in recent weeks.
One of those players is safety and captain Jabrill Peppers, who is currently on the NFL's Commissioner's Exempt List after he was arrested during an altercation.
While we wait for more information and details to emerge on this case, Patriots owner Robert Kraft, while appearing on "The Breakfast Club," made it clear where he stands on the situation.
“When you read the (story) initially, it turns your stomach… and I don’t know the facts in this case. And Jerod (Mayo) called me, we spoke about it. Once he goes on the Commissioner Exempt List, they do their independent checking, we’re doing ours," Kraft said. "And if what’s reported is true, he’s gone. There have been some suggestions that this was a setup and a lot of what’s been reported is not accurate... if what's been reported is true, he's gone. But, we want to get the facts...
"Since this came out, I've been in New York. I've talked to Jerod, our legal counsel and other support people. The easy thing would've been to cut him right away. But, we're trying to measure nine times and do right by him. If the facts are as have been reported publicly, then he's not with us. There is a possibility that there's a different explanation and the facts are different. I'm personally just going to wait knowing how these things can be unfair."
New England has had a very strong public stance on violence against women, and going back on that now would look horrible.
If Peppers is found to be guilty of what he's accused of, the Patriots will move on.
