The New England Patriots have struggled to do much offensively to start the season, as they're last in yards per game (246.3) and second-to-last in points per game (13.0).
New England's offensive line hasn't allowed Jacoby Brissett and company to move the ball consistently due to poor play and injuries.
One of their biggest missing pieces has been guard Sidy Sow, who appeared in 15 games (starting 13) for the Patriots in 2023. The 26-year-old was expected to be the team's starting left guard this year with Cole Strange on reserve/PUP.
However, an ankle injury suffered in the team's preseason finale has kept Sow out for the first three weeks.
On Friday, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo spoke to the media, and he provided an update on Sow's status heading into their Week 4 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
"Sidy's doing great," Mayo said. "I talked to Sidy last week. It was close. It was close last week. Hopefully, we look forward to seeing him play here on Sunday."
Having Sow back could greatly help a line that needs to protect the quarterback better and open more holes for the running backs, especially considering New England may be down to their fourth left tackle this season.
