The Miami Dolphins come into their Monday Night football matchup against the Tennessee Titans battered, bruised, and reeling. Miami has lost two straight games and, more importantly, has lost their starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. Tua Tagovailoa has been placed on injured reserve, and will be out until at least Week 8 as he recovers from the third diagnosed concussion since he entered the league.
Tagovailoa isn’t the only Dolphins player dealing with concussion symptoms heading into Week 4, as both offensive tackle Terron Armstead and cornerback Kendall Fuller are still in the league’s concussion protocol and were held out of Thursday’s practice. Armstead and Fuller were two of five players held out of practice on Thursday, as the Dolphins listed a total of 11 players on their initial injury report.
Joining Armstead and Fuller in being held out were defensive tackle Calais Campbell (rest), linebacker David Long, Jr. (hamstring), and cornerback Siran Neal (hamstring). The Dolphins also listed cornerback Storm Duck (shoulder), fullback Alec Ingold (shoulder/knee), running back Raheem Mostert (chest), quarterback Skylar Thompson (ribs), and wide receiver Malik Washington (quadricep) on the initial injury report, all as limited participants.
The final Dolphins player on the initial injury report was linebacker Jaelan Phillips, who was a full participant on Thursday with Achilles and shoulder injuries. On the other side, the Titans listed just five players on their initial injury report. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and cornerback L’Jarius Sneed were held out of practice for veteran rest days, while cornerback Chidobe Awuzie and defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons were held out with groin and elbow injuries respectively.
The Titans also listed safety Amani Hooker as a limited participant in Thursday’s practice with what’s being called a “face” injury.
