Former Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald has his first major post-football responsibilities.

Donald is one part of a new advisory committee formed by the Pittsburgh Panthers to assist in the search for a new athletic director.

Pitt chancellor Joan Gabel said the Panthers are “seeking a transformational leader to partner with university leadership in efforts to further elevate Pitt’s world-class student-athletes, coaches, staff, fans and donors,” according to Jerry Dipaola of Trib Live.

Donald, the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and surefire Hall of Famer was an alum of Penn Hills who spent 2010-2013 at Pitt and was a unanimous All-American and ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. He also won the Chuck Bednarik Award and Bronco Nagurski Trophy for best defensive player, among others.

Six others were selected for the committee, too, including Pitt men's basketball coach Jeff Capel in the wake of the firing of Heather Lyke as athletic director on Monday.

As for the Rams, Sean McVay and Co. started the season 0-1 with an overtime loss to the Detroit Lions and face an uphill battle with star wideout Puka Nacua and others injured. Donald, unlike others (cough, Tom Brady), hasn’t been much of an un-retirement threat, though, often citing he no longer feels the passion to get back on the field.

Instead, he’ll assist with critical matters back near his hometown, enjoying retirement at the age of 33.
