Should the Los Angeles Rams go out and add an emergency free agent in the wake of Puka Nacua’s injury?

Nacua, after all, now sits on injured reserve, meaning he’ll miss at least four games—but the vibes from the team and reports suggest the absence could be much longer.

That in mind, Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon suggested the Rams add free agent wideout Chase Claypool:

“Chase Claypool hasn't cut it in multiple stops since shining in Pittsburgh, but the talent is there and he's still only 26. Maybe this could be the right environment for him to rediscover something.”

Claypool, the former second-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers, popped up in Miami last year and appeared in nine games, catching four passes. He’s had a tough time sticking anywhere. He spent time in Pittsburgh before getting shipped midseason to Chicago, where he spent roughly one season, getting traded in October of 2023 to Miami. This summer, he spent time with Buffalo before getting released with an injury settlement.

That’s a long-winded way of saying Claypool might not be a fit in Los Angeles right now. With a Week 6 bye, Sean McVay and Co. might hope the current Cooper Kupp-led depth chart can tough it out for the time being.

Nacua did reinjure a knee that cost him some training camp time, so they will likely take it very slow. But beyond an encouraging Week 1 showing from Tyler Johnson, they’ve got training camp breakout Jordan Whittington to look at, too, before browsing the open market.
