Veteran linebacker Shaquille Quarterman has his second new team in a week.

After signing with the Philadelphia Eagles on August 5, Quarterman was released just days later when the Eagles chose to bring in former Denver Broncos safety Caden Sterns. Now, Quarterman has landed with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers have signed Quarterman to add depth at linebacker following a sluggish 16-3 preseason loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He will join a deep group at inside linebacker, but one where the team is still looking for options.

In addition to signing Quarterman, the team reportedly took a look at Frank Ginda in a tryout on Monday. Ginda most recently played for the Michigan Panthers in the UFL.

Ginda will compete with the likes of Nick Niemann, Troy Dye, Shane Lee and Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste for playing time behind the top three options, Junior Colson, Daiyan Henley and Denzel Perryman.

Shaquille Quarterman was a fourth-round pick

Quarterman was drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars out of Miami. He has 54 tackles and one forced fumble in his career.

While he has never quite lived up to his potential, he is still just 26 years old and could just need a change of scenery. He thought that would be in Philly but will now be all the way out in L.A.

Quarterman will face tough odds to make the team with only two preseason games to play but he still has time to make enough of an impression to get a spot on the practice squad.
