Former Denver Broncos safety Caden Sterns has signed a new team and it has been connected to another former safety, Justin Simmons.

Sterns has agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles less than one week after being released by the Broncos and just days after being released by the Carolina Panthers, the team that claimed him off waivers only to release him when he couldn't pass the team physical.

Now Sterns heads to the NFC East and one of the better teams in the conference. Simmons has also been connected to the Eagles this offseason but is still waiting to sign somewhere. He did have a formal visit with the New Orleans Saints this week.

Caden Sterns' health could still be a concern

Sterns was able to pass Denver's physical, but not Carolina's. The Eagles must be satisfied with the way he has recovered from a torn patella tendon in Week 1 of last season, something the Panthers apparently could not get past.

In Philly, Sterns joins a safety group that already has CJ Gardner-Johnson, Reed Blankenship, Avante Maddox and James Bradberry, who switched over from the cornerback spot.

It doesn't seem like there is much room for opportunity there for Sterns, but it's likely a short-term deal where he'll aim to prove his worth.
