The Green Bays Packers will be without the services of a fan-favorite throughout the 2024 National Football League season.
Green Bay had to trim down its roster to 53 players this week and made a shocking announcement that running back A.J. Dillon would miss the 2024 season after being placed on the Injured Reserve.
Now, the Packers don't have as much behind starting running back Josh Jacobs as they initially expected. There are some players available in free agency that could make some sense before Week 1 kicks off next week, though.
One player who could make a lot of sense as a depth piece is former Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt. He surprisingly still is available in free agency and is one of the best running backs still available on the open market.
Hunt spent the last five years with the Browns but still is available in free agency and likely will land elsewhere at this point. His best season came as a rookie with the Chiefs in 2017 where he was a Pro Bowler and logged over 1,300 rushing yards to go along with eight touchdowns. He also had 53 receptions for 455 yards and three touchdowns in the air.
Green Bay should be considering ways to add more depth with Dillon done for the season and Hunt could be the best and easiest available. Why not take a chance on him at this point with the season approaching?
