The Detroit Lions were ravaged by injuries during the Week 3 win over the Arizona Cardinals and it appears they may have lost a key edge rusher for the season in veteran Marcus Davenport.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Davenport suffered what appears to be a significant elbow injury in the 20-13 win on Sunday and could be out for the season as a result. Rapoport notes that Davenport is still undergoing more tests.

Davenport exited briefly during the contest before getting back into the game and ultimately played 40 defensive snaps. He finished with one tackle.

The Lions signed Davenport during the offseason to provide some help to star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, and he showed plenty of promise after an impressive Week 1 that saw him tally a half a sack and six pressures.

But there was always a concern about Davenport's injury history, as he had never played a full season during his career. That concern popped up rather quickly, as Davenport missed the Week 2 game with a groin issue.

If Davenport is indeed lost for the season, the Lions will be left with Josh Paschal, James Houston and potentially Levi Onwuzurike to pick up the slack. If the Lions want to put themselves in the best position possible to compete for a Super Bowl, they're going to have to bring in more edge help.

The Lions may be without even more defenders than just Davenport, as defensive lineman Alim McNeill and linebacker Derrick Barnes are both dealing with injuries that could force them to miss time.
