New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh was given his walking papers on Tuesday, days after the team lost to the Minnesota Vikings in London to drop to 2-3 on the year. But apparently, Saleh had plans to fire one of his own coaches first.

Before being let go, Saleh was reportedly looking at firing his offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett.

Denver Broncos fans are quite familiar with Hackett, who was hired as the team's head coach in 2022 and became one of just four coaches in NFL history to be fired before the end of his first season with a team. Hackett was terrible in Denver and has been terrible for the Jets, but Saleh was relieved of his duties first.

The Jets will move forward with Jeff Ulbrich as their interim head coach and Hackett as their offensive coordinator. Aaron Rodgers likely had a lot to do with Hackett being retained and Saleh being fired, but that is something the team would deny.

The Broncos would also deny hiring Hackett in 2022 to help get Rodgers to Denver, but many Broncos fans stand by that idea.

Though Saleh is gone, it will be interesting to see how long Hackett lasts in New York as the Jets are falling apart and seem to be in line for a complete teardown at season's end.
