NFL Power Rankings: Denver Broncos make slight move up despite big win over Raiders image

The Denver Broncos have made all of Broncos Country forget about their 0-2 start to the season and have won three games in a row, most recently dispatching their hated rival, the Las Vegas Raiders, snapping an eight-game losing streak against them.

The Broncos improved to 3-2 on the season following their big win at Empower Field on Sunday, doing it in style while wearing their throwback uniforms. While Broncos fans feel a mile high following the victory, Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News wasn't quite as excited.

However, Iyer still moved the Broncos up in his weekly power rankings, placing them at No. 17. They were at No. 19 last week.

"The Broncos aren't doing much to win games — just playing sound defense with the occasional big play, running well as much as they can, and having Bo Nix grind it out. Sean Payton's formula is working well vs. equal and lesser teams."

The Broncos will host the Los Angeles Chargers next Sunday. The Chargers come in at No. 16 on the list, so it will be another key AFC West game for the Broncos. If they can win that one, they should be considered a legitimate playoff contender.

The Kansas City Chiefs hold the top spot in the power rankings and likely will until they lose, no matter how ugly they win. The Raiders are down at No. 26 and at 2-3, look like one of the worst teams in the league.
