When the Denver Broncos released safety Caden Sterns earlier this summer, it came across as a big surprise. But he hasn't landed on his feet since then, leading to a belief that the Broncos saw something that other teams are quickly noticing.

It has been quite the whirlwind for Sterns since he was released by the Broncos on August 5. The following day, he was claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers. However, his stay there lasted just two days after he failed a physical.

He was picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles three days after that and spent the rest of the preseason with them. He was cut at the end of the preseason when the team trimmed its roster to 53 players and was then brought back to their practice squad.

The Eagles released him from the practice squad one week later. Then, it was the Eagles who re-signed him to the practice squad on Wednesday and just one day later, released him again.

Where Sterns lands at this point is anyone's guess.

What is left of Caden Sterns' NFL career?

Sterns was hurt in the Broncos' season-opening loss to the Las Vegas Raiders last season. He has not played in a regular season game since.

However, the former fifth-round pick is still only 24 years old. Teams are either not satisfied with his recovery from that injury or he's lost a step.

He should find himself on another NFL roster at some point as youth is still on his side. At the rate he's going, that could be by the end of the weekend. However, his opportunities could be slowly slipping away as these teams are moving on from him so quickly.
