Denver Broncos: Most intriguing storylines for Week 2 game vs. Pittsburgh Steelers image

After an ugly loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos will be looking to avoid an 0-2 start to the season when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

The Steelers were able to defeat the Atlanta Falcons on the road in Week 1 and now they bring a stingy defense to the Mile High City. This will be the first meeting between these teams in nearly three years.

There are some big storylines to follow in this game.

Denver Broncos vs. Pittsburgh Steelers storylines

Can the Broncos' wide receivers be more dynamic?

If the Broncos are going to have any chance of winning this game, they are going to have to be. Bo Nix needs to be able to open the field up in the passing attack and throw the ball down the field. His leading receiver last week caught eight passes... for 39 yards.

Here are some numbers that just won't cut it in Week 2:

Bo Nix: 3.3 yards per passing attempt
Marvin Mims Jr.: 12 offensive snaps

The Broncos need to at least attempt some deep shots in this game and Mims is their best bet to do that. The wide receivers as a whole simply need to do more. Catching a bunch of three-yard passes won't faze the Steelers at all.

Can anyone block T.J. Watt?

It certainly didn't seem like anyone for the Falcons could. If you watched that game, he was in the backfield constantly applying pressure. He had one sack, two tackles for loss, and three hits on the quarterback. He was as big of a reason as any as to why the Steelers won that game.

He could go headhunting in this one, looking to take advantage of the rookie Nix, who will have to deal with one of the league's best pass-rushers. The Broncos are going to have to put this at the top of their game plan as far as how to deal with it.

Justin Fields or Russell Wilson?

Though it is something that the Broncos can't be overly emotional about, this is going to be the storyline that dominates this week's headlines.

This was supposed to be Russell Wilson's return to Denver, but it is looking like the Steelers are planning to roll with Justin Fields again.

The idea that this is a slam-dunk victory for the Broncos due to poor quarterback play for the Steelers is a poor way to look at this game. The Broncos have their own set of issues and they were abundant against Seattle. If they are fixated on who plays QB for the Steelers, they are going to be 0-2.
