Denver sports reporter makes absurd prediction concerning Broncos in 2024 image

The Denver Broncos are not a team many outside the most diehard of fans within Broncos Country have much belief in for the 2024 season. Add Denver sports reporter James Merilatt to that list.

Merilatt is the digital editor of Denver Sports and a frequent guest on 104.3 The Fan. There, he gives takes that often get under the skin of many fans within the region and he also puts out content such as this, making it clear he is not a believer in what Sean Payton is trying to do.

Merilatt is certainly not one to shy away from his beliefs and recently, while appearing on Denver Sports show Coffe Break, he had this to say.

Bo Nix compared to Josh Rosen, Broncos to draft Shedeur Sanders

This may be one of the harshest takes on Bo Nix as a rookie yet. Some have heavily criticized the Broncos for taking Nix with the No. 12 overall pick in the draft, but to compare him to Josh Rosen is rough.

Rosen was selected with the No. 10 overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2018. He struggled as a rookie, completing just 55 percent of his passes and throwing 14 interceptions with just 11 touchdown passes. He also had a 3-10 record as a starter.

That led to the Cardinals having the No. 1 overall pick in 2019, which they used on a quarterback, Kyler Murray. Rosen was sent away and quickly forgotten. Surely, that won't be the fate for Nix, right?

Merilatt then says the Broncos will take another quarterback in next year's draft, eluding to Shedeur Sanders of Colorado. That name continues to be brought up in connection with this team.

But for that to happen, so many things would have to go wrong. The Broncos are widely expected to be bad in 2024 and have a top 10, perhaps even top 5 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. But there is no way Sean Payton is going to select another quarterback that soon, he has too much riding on Nix.

Would the Broncos fire Payton if the team struggles that badly? Possibly, but not at all likely.

This is a doom and gloom scenario if there ever was one, but Merilatt also suggests there is a "pretty good chance" that Russell Wilson wins the Super Bowl next year when the host of the show, Rachel Vigil, eludes to that.

Should this guy even be taken seriously?
