The Denver Broncos have brought back linebacker Alex Mock just in time for the preseason to kick off.

The Broncos signed Mock as an undrafted free agent out of Air Force but released him in June when they signed Dondrea Tillman following his spring league championship run with the Birmingham Stallions. But now, Mock is back.

The Broncos waived edge rusher Ronnie Perkins with an injury settlement, clearing a space on the roster. Mock had shown enough in his short time with the team that he was deemed worthy of a further look.

Alec Mock joins competition at inside linebacker

Mock is one of seven players listed at inside linebacker on the team's first unofficial depth chart which also shows that Jonas Griffith OR Cody Barton is the starter next to Alex Singleton currently.

He will have his work cut out for him to make the team after already being released once but perhaps he can do enough on special teams to show he is worthy of a spot on the practice squad.

Perkins was a former third-round pick of the New England Patriots. The Broncos plucked him off the Patriots' practice squad last September and he played in seven games for the team, registering 13 tackles.
