NFL Power Rankings Week 2: How many teams are ranked below the Broncos? image

For the third year in a row, the Denver Broncos have opened a season by losing their first game, dropping their Week 1 contest against the Seattle Seahawks.

Things did not go well for Bo Nix in his debut, even if he did complete 26 passes on the day. The Broncos had no offensive threat in this game and in the second half, couldn't stop the Seahawks from moving the ball down the field.

The Broncos came into this season being considered one of the worst teams in the league so as you would expect, that hasn't changed in Vinnie Iyer's first power rankings list of the regular season. He has the Broncos slotted at No. 29, a spot it feels like they have been in forever if you're a regular power rankings reader.

Of course, power rankings are not official for anything and the Broncos are just one game behind all of the teams that won in Week 1. But losing has become an epidemic in Denver and one has to wonder when that will stop.

Only three teams rank below Denver in initial power rankings

There were only three teams rated below the Broncos according to Iyer and you probably don't have to think too hard about which teams they are.

30. Las Vegas Raiders

31. New York Giants

32. Carolina Panthers

All three of those teams are really bad and they all lost in Week 1 as well, but if we're honest, all three of them would probably play this Broncos team close.

The Broncos will look to bounce back this Sunday in their home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0). An 0-2 start could be detrimental to any major plans the team has for this season.
