A Chicago Bears defensive stalwart is now joining one of the best defenses in the National Football League.

Safety Eddie Jackson, a two-time Pro Bowler who was named first-team All-Pro in 2018,  has agreed in principle to a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens. The team announced the deal on social media this Friday.

In his seven seasons with Chicago, Jackson started all 100 games he played, totaling 15 interceptions, 44 passes defended, 10 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, and 459 tackles. He is currently tied for the third-most defensive touchdowns in Bears franchise history with six.

Despite being named one of the 100 best players in the organization's history and boasting a decent season with one interception and 37 tackles in 12 games, the Bears released Jackson on February 15, 2024, to free up salary cap space.

"I know we put a piece out on them, but I just wanted to say thank you to them for what they've done for the Bears," Chicago general manager Ryan Poles said about cutting Jackson and Cody Whitehair. "We felt like it was the right time to give them an opportunity to test the market and see what's out there for them. I wanted to do right by them and do it as early as possible so they can put their plans in place."

Jackson now joins the Ravens' safety team alongside Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams, making arguably the best safety trio in the league. He is expected to replace Geno Stone, who left for the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency.
