The NFL world loves the idea of the Baltimore Ravens adding another wide receiver.
The Ravens have been linked to Davante Adams and they've been seen as a fit for Darius Slayton.
Now, Bleacher Report's "Scouting Department" named the Ravens as a potential free agency fit for wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
B/R's Alex Ballentine writes:
"The Houston Texans wiped out the final three years of Stefon Diggs' contract when they traded for him this offseason. It made his run with the Texans a one-year trial period, and it might not go further than that after they extended Nico Collins.
"If the former Maryland standout hits the open market, then he could be a fun fit in Baltimore. The team has an emerging star at tight end in Isaiah Likely, and Zay Flowers is an electric underneath receiver. Diggs could fit in as the vertical outside receiver."
Diggs is soon to be 31 years old, but he does not seem far past his Pro Bowl peak.
Through six games with the Texans, Diggs has 37 catches for 392 yards and 3 touchdowns. That puts him on pace 102-1,110-8 season.
Basically any team could use that type of production at wide receiver. And the Ravens are thin at receiver outside of Flowers, who, it should be noted, is also on track for an 1,100-yard season.
However, it's worth wondering if the Ravens will target a major addition at wide receiver at all, via trade or free agency. Through six games this season, they lead the NFL in total yards and are second in points. With Derrick Henry, Lamar Jackson, Flowers, the improving Rashod Bateman, and the tight end duo of Likely and Mark Andrews, the Ravens have plenty of weapons and numerous ways to beat opponents.
Of course, there is a lot of time between now and next offseason, and anything can happen — including a pressing need for a receiver becoming apparent.
