Ohio State QB given 'most overrated player' title image

Last week, head coach Ryan Day made it official that Will Howard would be the starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes. While many saw it coming, there was still the possibility of it being someone else. Now, even with the job solidified, people are still having their doubts.

In a recent article conducted by Ryan Roberts of 'A to Z Sports', he listed out the most overrated players in college football for each position, and Roberts had Will Howard slotted in the quarterback position.

Roberts went on to say that when his season ended with the Kansas State, the Wildcats actually chose to move on from Howard to usher in a new era of football with Avery Johnson.

During his last season with Kansas State, Howard threw for over 2,600 yards and 24 touchdowns, making him the all-time passing touchdowns leader at the school with a total of 48.

Now, in Roberts' defense, he did state that "the word “overrated” can take on a very negative connotation, and understandably so. It doesn’t mean a player isn’t good. It simply means that the hype does not quite match the on-field performance right now".

So while he isn't saying Will Howard is not any good, Buckeye fans can't help but feel frustrated. Of course there is a ton of hype around Will Howard, and deservedly so. Not only does Howard have one of the winningest coaches by his side, but he is also leading arguably one of the best teams college football has ever seen.

But, as football fans all know, only time will tell if Howard will meet expectations.
