ESPN analyst Stephen A Smith went on a tirade yesterday about how Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum did not get any court time in the Team USA win against Serbia.
“The reigning, defending, NBA champion Jayson Tatum, and you can’t find minutes?” exclaimed Stephen A. “In a 26-point lopsided victory, you can’t find one minute?”
Stephen A was rightfully mad, as Tatum is a reigning champion and arguably the best player on the Celtics, yet his two Celtics teammates who made Team USA got minutes and he didn’t.
“And to have him go through the entire NBA season, and then go through the playoffs, and capture a championship, and still take time in his offseason to join Team USA, and to have a champion riding the bench like he’s some water boy, you gotta be kidding me,” said Stephen A.
Stephen A ended his rant quoting and talking about Team USA coach Steve Kerr’s reason for not playing Tatum, saying “‘Really hard in a 40 minute game to play more than ten guys’, it’s Team USA!”
According to coach Kerr, Tatum will be seeing floor time in Team USA’s second Olympic game against South Sudan, tomorrow at 3pm EST.
