Boston Celtics general manager Brad Stevens said in an interview with NBC Sports Boston that he believes the Celtics veterans Jrue Holiday and Al Horford are the best vet leaders in the NBA.
“I think (Al) Horford and (Jrue) Holiday, being our two guys up in their thirties, if you truly want to talk about the best vet leadership in the league, there’s nobody who has got us beat.”
Holiday and Horford both have great vet resumes for the Celtics; Holiday was a prior champion, so he knew how to make it to the top and taught it to the rest of the roster. Horford has seen dynasties rise and fall, and has seen a lot of different playstyles. His wisdom comes from experience, which a lot of the young roster lacks.
“There is no one that has got us beat in veteran leadership,” said Stevens. “Because those two are as good as it gets. Because they are all about the right stuff.”
Stevens mentioned that to be a good player on the Celtics, you need to be aware there is no “I” in team. To be a member of the Celtics, you have to know it isn’t all about you. So, if the main players can exemplify that, the sky's the limit for Boston.
"If you truly want to talk about the best vet leadership in the league, there's nobody that's got us beat."
