Boston Celtics superstar forward Jayson Tatum has been doing multiple workouts a day to fix his mechanical issues with his jump shot, per Ramona Shelburne. Tatum’s jumper has been a major point of criticism, especially during the late playoffs of 2024 and during the Olympics.
“He had been doing two-a-days with his longtime skills coach Drew Hanlen and physical therapist Nick Sang to address a mechanical issue in his jumper that had come up early last season and reared its head again during the playoffs and Olympics.”
During the NBA Finals, Tatum had a good field goal percentage, except for game two, where he shot 27% from the field. However, his three point percentage was terrible, with multiple games at 25% or below. His Olympic run was no better, where he got limited minutes and did not do well in any of them.
If Tatum can re-learn his shot from previous seasons, he definitely will have no criticisms about his game, as he has proven to be a great scorer, rebounder, playmaker, and defender. All that is left is personal hardware, like MVP or Finals MVP. So, by fixing his shot he may have a chance at either award.
