The Boston Red Sox have been playing well lately, including taking two of three games for the Kansas City Royals this week.

During Boston's impressive stretch, designated hitter Masataka Yoshida has been on a roll of his own. In his last 36 games, the 31-year-old has hit .336 with an .866 OPS, four home runs and 25 RBIs.

In this series alone, Yoshida recorded six total hits (two doubles, one home run and three RBIs) in 14 at-bats.

His recent performance has impressed many, but Red Sox manager Alex Cora knew that he was capable of this.

"Good swings, man," Cora said this week."There were two foul balls on fastballs today that he let it eat. The swing is a lot different. There's a lot of confidence, controlling the zone, hitting the ball all over the place. This is the guy we envisioned when we signed him. He was this guy in Japan. He was this guy early in the season last year until he was a little bit banged up. This year, obviously, with the hand, it took him a while to get his timing, but right now, he's locked in."

When Yoshida is hitting well, the lineup is much more dangerous. If he keeps this up, he can really help the team, as they hope to make the playoffs.
