The Boston Red Sox have made a number of changes to their bullpen in recent weeks with the trade deadline passing.
One move that Boston recently made was designating right-handed relief pitcher Chase Anderson for assignment. After Anderson passed through waivers, he declined his assignment to Triple-A Worcester and opted for free agency instead.
Now, the 36-year-old has found a new team, signing a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers, according to The New York Post's Jon Heyman. He'll start out with Triple-A Round Rock.
In 27 games for the Red Sox in 2024, Anderson posted a 4.85 ERA (5.59 FIP) and a 1.250 WHIP while striking out 35 batters over 52 innings.
Texas is alive in the American League Wild Card race, so Anderson could end up pitching for his new team as they try to catch up to his former team.
